In the 50s, a young and dynamic man from Sorrento and a beautiful Dutch woman love Italy and have a secret dream: to open a hotel by the sea on the Amalfi Coast. Guglielmo and Coby choose a wild and fascinating place, the coast of Punta San Lorenzo, a real challenge due to the slope of the land. But this is where it must be located, and the hotel’s name will be Hotel Delfino, because Coby was enchanted by the dolphins that ride the waves of the Gulf of Naples.
A dream of hospitality:
from the Netherlands to Massa Lubrense
In 1970, Hotel Delfino has become a reality and the Dutch flag flies alongside the Italian one. Guests come mainly from abroad, but the events and parties organized by Coby and Guglielmo attract local people, too. The mid-August dinner with fireworks becomes an unmissable event, a real tradition. Angelo, who practically grows inside the Hotel, livens up the life of the Hotel even more.
Guglielmo is not that kind of person who rests on his laurels, and together with Coby he works hard to make their idea of hospitality more and more exclusive. The seawater swimming pool and the sun deck overlooking Capri are a feather in the Hotel’s cap and an attractive feature for the whole Sorrento peninsula. The rooms are also equipped with increasingly modern services, such as a minibar, air conditioning system and a TV. The innovations, the position overlooking the sea, and the unspoiled nature make the Hotel Delfino a popular destination for Italians and foreigners.
The Blue Room, embellished with Murano chandeliers and a view of Capri, becomes a popular location for banquets, especially weddings. The Sirens terrace, overlooking the sea, is the centerpiece of the Hotel’s evening life, which now sees the contribution of Angelo at the helm of the family business, together with his parents Guglielmo and Coby.
Angelo, together with his wife Renata and his sons Guglielmo and Riccardo, takes over the management of the hotel. His father passed away, but the passion for the world of hospitality and the visionary enthusiasm of his parents are part of his DNA and that of his children. The hotel changes its appearance following a profound renovation that launches the Delfino towards the horizon of Luxury Hospitality.
The marine style, the design of the new rooms and suites, nature, relaxation and good food make the family-run Hotel a contemporary and comfortable place, pervaded by the warm atmosphere of Mediterranean elegance.
The 4 Star Superior Hotel is located on the rock from which the Sorrentine Peninsula plunges into the sea of the Sirens.
